2010 Update

We had a greatly reduced winter road season given the mild weather and lack of snow. Our delivery period was four weeks shorter this year than last so many communities only got a portion of their order while a couple did not receive any product. Road conditions were very poor which resulted in less than full truck loads and higher freight costs. Wasaya Airways has been very busy since March flying in the much needed product to the communities who didn’t have their needs fully met.

We recognize this was a hardship for many communities. It is especially frustrating as most clients were well prepared and had outside financing in place to prepay orders. We would like to thank them for their efforts. We would also like to thank our business partners like Paul’s Hauling, Central Canada Fuels, OLCO and Morgan Transfer. Last but not least, we would like to thank our clients for their support and our staff for their hard work. Without them, we wouldn’t have the successful business we do.

Speaking of staff, I’d like to single out and thank Harvey Sainnawap for his years of dedication. Harvey has decided to pursue new challenges and we wish him all the best. Please welcome Sam McKay as the Pickle Lake Manager.

Wasaya means rising sun in the Oji-Cree dialect and the logo of Wasaya, which depicts a sunburst with eight sunrays, represents each original owner community.
